Collingwood is Proud to be Canadian!

Thank you for coming out and supporting Canada as the Olympic Torch made it's way into downtown Vancouver.

Thousands lined Kingsway from Boundary Road to Tyne and along Tyne.  The streets were decorated with Red Chinese Lanterns and you couldn't miss the giant downhill inflatable skier at the corner of Tyne and Kingsway.  There were a thousand children from all the surrounding schools and preschools waving their red mittens and Canada flags and big smiles from all spectators.  Some came in head to toe Canada gear.  Thank you for showing your support and putting Collingwood on the world map.

The Collingwood BIA would like to make a special thank you to Safeway for the use of their parking lot and for donating two large Canada cakes for everyone to share.  Maple leaf cookies were made by our very own Joyce Bakery, thank you Mary and Stanley.  The event was sponsored by a grant from Heritage Canada and Host a City Celebrations.

We have all played a special part in Canadian history, be proud of yourselves and let's continue to cheer on our team.

Go Canada Go!!
