The Collingwood BIA encourages all of our members to make the effort to employ green practices.  Whether its participating in energy efficient lighting programs, using reuseable and recycled materials, or finding alternate modes of travel to work, by doing your part we will all reap the benefits.

BIABC, the provincial association for BIAs partnered with BC Hydro to promote energy efficiency and energy conservation within BIA communities with the goal of reducing consumption, environmental impacts and energy costs.  Together, BIABC and BC Hydro have put together an energy conservation package for BIABC Members.  All Collingwood BIA members are eligible to receive this package (while quantities last) which inlcudes:

• L.E.D. 1.2 Watts Exit Sign Retrofit Kit with Adaptors - Did you know? Every business has exit signs, and they are required to be on 24 hours a day, every day.  By simply switiching to L.E.D. exit sign light bulbs you can save up to $30.00 per year, per sign.  That's a 90% savings! Moreover, L.E.D. lights last about 10 years where incandescent light bulbs burn our in less than one year.  That;s les hassle and more money to you jut by switching over.
• A Compact Fluorescent Light Bulb - Did you know?  A Compact Fluorescent light bulb uses about 80% less energy than an incandescent light bulb andit also lasts 10 times longer.
